Whether you visit, live, or will soon live in Myrtle Beach, you know there’s always something to do anytime of the year here – especially in the summer. We gathered these top Myrtle Beach outdoor festivals, events and concerts we think you should squeeze into your schedule!

Through Aug. 10, 7-8 p.m. Surfside Beach Hula Show

Grab a chair or blanket and hit the sands of Surfside Beach at Third Ave. South for a front row seat at this popular show. Every Tuesday, this group will perform the traditional Polynesian luau and fire show; it’s a sight you won’t want to miss!

Through Aug. 21, 7-10 p.m. Summer Light: Art By Night

Light up your summer nights with artistic flair at Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet. Meander through the indoor galleries of art and stroll the gardens twinkling under the stars with light displays each Wednesday. There will also be nightly musical performances and several onsite dining options. Visit www.brookgreen.org to purchase tickets.

Through August 27, 7-9 p.m. “Time Warp” at The Carolina Opry Theater

This high-energy show celebrates the best music of the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s, blended with rich multimedia screens, special effects, and elaborate costuming. It’s all performed by the award-winning cast of The Carolina Opry show, which includes vocalist Delvin Choice of “The Voice” fame, Rory John Zak of “American Idol,” national recording artist Brad Long, hip-hop cloggers All That! from “America’s Got Talent,” vocalists Christie Templeton, Tangena Church and Chas Croft Sorrells, fiddling champion Trent Wideman and bluegrass virtuoso Gary Brown. 

Through Aug. 28, 8-10 a.m. Breakfast With A Mermaid

It’s your chance for a close encounter with a mermaid every Saturday in this summer at Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach. You’ll get to enjoy the aquarium before it opens to the public, eat breakfast, and meet a real, live mermaid in Mermaid Cove. Besides a delicious, hot breakfast, you’ll also get a complimentary photo and a special mermaid craft. Through Sept. 17, 7-9 p.m. Sounds of Summer Concert Series

It’s a sweet-harmony series every summer at the Sandhills Bank Amphitheater in North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex, Little River. Each concert will feature family-friendly music; admission is free. Bring a beach chair or blanket. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. Here’s the schedule:

June 18:  On the Border (Eagles Tribute Band)

July 16: Fleetwood Max (Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band)

August 20: The Wildflowers (Tom Petty Tribute Band)

Sept 17: The Tams (Beach Music)

Through Sept. 19, Various Times. Pelicans Baseball.

Take yourself out to the ballgame at Myrtle Beach’s very own minor league team, a Low-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Baseball action will round the diamond each inning, while fun activities will entertain in between; plus there’s food, craft beer and more. Through Oct. 8, Movies at McLean

North Myrtle Beach’s McLean Park will serve as an outdoor movie theatre this summer, with a movie lineup that will each begin 15 minutes after sunset. Bring your own seating; concessions will be sold at the North Myrtle Beach Lions Club snack stand; admission is free. The movie schedule is:

June 11 – “Sonic the Hedgehog,” 8:30 p.m.

July 9 – “The Croods 2 New Age,” 8:30 p.m.

Aug. 13 – “Onward,” 8:15 p.m.

Sept. 10 – “The Little Rascals,” 7:30 p.m.

Oct. 8 – “Hocus Pocus,” 7 p.m.

Through Dec. 18., 9:30 a.m. Rooftop Yoga

Relax and stretch with yoga sessions on the rooftop of the oceanfront RipTydz restaurant (1210 N. Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach). Led by Shelsea Novosel, a certified instructor with 15 years of experience, these yoga classes are for all skill levels. Just bring your mat!

June 18-20 and July 16-18, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A Dogs Way Inlet Flyers Dog Dock Diving Competition

A Dogs Way Inlet Flyers, the area’s first dock diving club for dogs, will host weekends of exciting, four-legged competition throughout the summer. Hosted by A Dog’s Way Inn, Murrells Inlet, in their outdoor 40-foot specialty pool and dock, dogs of all breeds, mix or size, will distance dive after their favorite toy to compete for the longest dives and air retrieves, and the fastest hydro dashes. The event is sanctioned by North American Diving Dogs (NADD). Spectators are welcome to watch for free.

June. 19, 4-9 p.m. Myrtle Beach Juneteenth Celebration

Charlie’s Place, 1420 Carver St. in Myrtle Beach, will host the Myrtle Beach Juneteenth Celebration event. Admission is free; bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the sounds of Chocolate Chip and Company.

June 19-26. SOS Spring Safari

It may be later than usual this year, but that won’t stop the thousands of shaggers that will descend upon North Myrtle Beach from everywhere along the East Coast! This massive adult party features a variety of shag dance activities in the famous shag clubs, lounges and member clubs of Ocean Drive and Main Street. Also at the Safari, popular bands will play beach music crowd favorites on Main Street and shag dance instructors will offer classes to the masses who are seeking to improve their skill or increase their repertoire of moves. For more info, visit www.shagdance.com.

June 20 and July 11, 7 p.m. Broadway In The Park presented by Long Bay Theatre

Bring a chair, take a seat and enjoy the beautiful Broadway sounds performed by Long Bay Theatre at Chapin Memorial Park, Myrtle Beach. The free concerts will be themed around the biggest hits of Broadway. June 20 is “When You Wish,” a nod to Disney on Broadway, such as those from “Frozen,” “Mary Poppins,” “The Lion King,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin” and more; the July 11 concert, “Some Enchanted Evening,” revisits songs from classic Broadway shows, like “Oklahoma,” “South Pacific,” “The King and I,” “My Fair Lady,” “West Side Story,” “Camelot,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Guys and Dolls” and more.

June 20, 8:50 a.m. to noon. Take a Kid Surfing Day

Surf Dreams Foundation is sponsoring a day of surf, sun and environmental awareness at this event. They will provide surfboards, surf instructors, and an ocean safety course. You’ll need to bring sunscreen, boardshorts and get ready to have a great time. You must be there no later than 8:50 a.m.; late arrivals will not be accommodated. Location: Beach at Holiday Inn, 1601 N. Ocean Boulevard, Surfside Beach.

June 21-23, June 28-July 2 and July 5-9, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Twist Kids Summer Camp

This fun summer painting camp will keep the kids busy on canvases and crafts (instead of screens)! Each camp has a different theme, such as Aliens, Junk Food, and Llama Drama. Location: Painting with a Twist, 850-B Jason Blvd., Myrtle Beach.

June 26, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. 2021 Conway Riverfest

This festive, family-friendly annual event is set to take place at the Conway Marina in historic downtown Conway, 4 Elm St. Activities include There will be a golf cart parade, a kids zone, business expo, artisan market, food and beer garden, fireworks and much more. June 26, 5-9 p.m. World of Beer Luau

Aloha, there’s no need for a flight to Hawaii, when you can celebrate at this Hawaiian-themed event at World of Beer Bar & Kitchen in North Myrtle Beach. It’s the first anniversary of this hotspot on Restaurant Row, where a luau will feature live music island sounds from Jolly Mon Jams Band, Hawaiian-themed cocktails and beer, food specials and more.

July 2-July 30, 9 p.m. Movies Under The Stars

Valor Park at The Market Common will be transformed into an outdoor movie theatre during the complimentary Movies Under the Stars each Friday in July. Bring a blanket or lawn chair; start time is dusk, so may vary from the 9 p.m. start time. Food and drink vendors will also be available onsite. Here’s the lineup of the fun, family-friendly films:

July 3, Myrtle Beach Independence Day 5K

Ring in Independence Day with a run around Grand Lake Park and scenic Market Common. Runners will receive a high-quality race shirt and post-race goodies. There will also be prizes for the best themed costumes. For more info and to register, visit www.nspromos.com.

July 4, 3 p.m. 38th Annual Murrells Inlet Boat Parade and Fireworks on the Marsh Walk

After being canceled in 2020, this longtime favorite event is back in the Murrells Inlet waters to celebrate the Fourth! Boats decked out in patriotic flair will cruise past the Marsh Walk, where spectators can take it all in (and possibly get sprayed by water guns). Fun is to be had by all, with live music, food and drinks served up during the day and the Marsh Walk’s fireworks show at night (10 p.m.), 20 minutes of breathtaking views.

July 4, 10 p.m. Fourth of July Show Hosted by The City of Myrtle Beach

This free fireworks show will explode into the sky from the 2nd Avenue Pier, 1100 North Ocean Blvd. There won’t be a bad seat for the show from anywhere along the beach.

July 4, 6:30 p.m. July 4th Concert with Indigo Choral Society

Get into the all-American spirit at this free Fourth of July concert performed by the Indigo Choral Society on the lawn of the Kaminski House Museum in historic Georgetown. Bring your lawn chair, beverages, and snacks; you’re encouraged to come early for seating. Stay after the concert for the city’s fireworks from the lawn. For more info, visit KaminskiMuseum.org.

July 4, 10 a.m. Pawleys Island 4th of July Parade

This annual Pawleys Island tradition stars the community decorated in red, white and blue in a parade of cars, trucks, golf carts and more down Myrtle Avenue!

July 4, 7 a.m. Red, White, and Blue 5K

Run, walk or push a stroller for freedom on the Fourth at this 5K! The USATF-certified course winds through Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach. Participants will receive a custom-designed tri-blend shirt, a “Made in the USA” finisher medal, and post-race goodies and awards. Additional prizes will be given out to the best costumes. July 4, 1 p.m. Salute From the Shore 2021

Stand anywhere along the South Carolina coastline and look up to the sky at 1 p.m. to witness a military flyover of today’s planes and vintage aircrafts saluting our armed forces. You can participate by waving your American flags from the shore!

July 4, 6-10 p.m. Surfside Beach 4th of July Celebration

End the holiday with a bang on Martin Field (850 S. Dogwood Drive) in Surfside Beach, where family-friendly entertainment and live music will keep things festive on the Fourth.

July 9, 7-9 p.m. Josh Turner Concert at Alabama Theatre

MCA Nashville recording artist Josh Turner will hit the Alabama Theatre stage this summer! As one of country music’s most recognizable hit-makers and one of the youngest members inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, Turner has sold more than 8 million albums, thanks to hits like “Hometown Girl,” “Would You Go With Me,” “Your Man,” “Time Is Love,” “Why Don’t We Just Dance” and “Long Black Train.”

July 17, 7-9 p.m. Forever Motown

Nine all-star legends will grace the Alabama Theatre stage to perform hit Motown songs by The Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Supremes, Smoky Robinson and more. Live music acts for the evening include the Spinners’ original lead singer, G.C. Cameron, and former Temptations lead singer Glenn Leonard, along with members of The Marvelettes and a backup band.

July 20, 6 p.m. Awesome ’80s 5K

The start and finish line for this summer evening 5K is at Tidal Creek Brewhouse, with the course throughout The Market Common in between. For more info or to register, visit www.nspromos.com.

July 23, 7-9 p.m. 1964 The Tribute – Beatles

This Beatles tribute band has been touring worldwide since the early 1980s, and this year, they land in North Myrtle Beach at the Alabama Theatre. Many critics and fans consider 1964 the most authentic Beatles tribute band; in fact, Rolling Stone magazine named them “Best Beatles Tribute on Earth.” It could be because 1964 recreates a Beatle concert, complete with period instruments, clothing, hairstyles, and actual onstage banter.

July 24, 1-2 p.m. The End of the Road Bluegrass Band

The Horry County Museum will host a free traditional bluegrass concert featuring The End of the Road Bluegrass Band, a regional band based out of Conway. Formed in 2001, the band plays traditional bluegrass and bluegrass gospel music. You’ll be smacking your leg and tapping your feet!

July 30, 709 p.m. Easton Corbin

This country music icon first debuted on the scene with his chart-topping single, “A Little More Country Than That,” and his career has only continued go up from there, as Billboard’s 2010 Top New Country Artist” with seven top-10 singles. You’ll get to hear what the fuss is all about when he performs on the Alabama Theatre stage on this special night.
