Sandhurst is a neighborhood on the Fort Bragg side of Southern Pines. It breaks down into three further sections. Many of the homes here were built before 2000 and have three or four bedrooms. Residents are close to Highland Trails and James Creek. 

Weymouth Heights is an established neighborhood with a lot of variety from the lot size to the style of the homes. It is not a planned community, but it has a great location inside of Southern Pines, plus established landscaping and stately oak trees. This variety has attracted people of all ages. 

James Creek is beside Weymouth Heights. This established community tends to have medium to large-sized homes on generously sized lots. It also borders Weymouth Woods Park.

Pine Needles Resort & Golf Club, which hosted the 1996, 2001, and 2007 US Women’s Open Championships, is located in Southern Pines. The 2022 Women’s Open will be held at Pine Needles for the second time, making it the first course to host the event four times.

The Southern Pines Golf Club is also locally known as the Elks Club. The course was designed by Donald Ross and has amenities like a swimming pool and tennis courts. 

The famous Pinehurst number 9 course is actually within Southern Pines limits. Jack Nicklaus designed this 7,122-yard course with wide fairways and undulating greens that were meticulously placed. 

The Mid-South Club is a private gated community all over five hundred acres of the Rolling Sandhills. It has an Arnold Palmer signature golf course, and residents also get access to the new course at Talamore Golf Resort. 

Forest Creek offers two courses. Tom Fazio designed the North and South courses, which offer two very different experiences.

Are there golf course communities in Southern Pines, NC?

Mid-South Golf Club provides two golf courses inside its gated community. It includes the Mid-South course and the Talamore course. You can choose from single-family homes and Townhomes. The community is a mile from Pinehurst and its courses. 

Forest Creek Golf Club is also a residential golfing community with amenities like fine dining. Residents have two golf courses in their backyards.
