Established in 1989, this market remains a favorite weekend gathering space for city residents. Travel + Leisure has ranked it among the nation’s top farmers’ markets. The market opens in the spring and runs throughout the summer into the fall months. Local people and visitors purchase fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers, artisan products, handmade crafts, and baked goods. The Marion Square location operates from 8 am to 2 pm on Saturdays during the summer, and the market also hosts a special holiday market on several weekends in December. The West Ashley location at Ackerman Park runs Wednesdays from 3 to 7 pm.

The Sunday Brunch Farmers Market is one of Charleston’s few year-round farmers markets. This market earns its name because it operates during those traditional brunch hours on Sundays. The market prides itself on being completely reliant upon local vendors, and local people love that they can support their community by purchasing handmade goods and fresh produce from this market. Many can get just what they need for their Sunday brunch meal that day–even if it’s a stop at the Pour House deck next to the market. This market is open from 11 am to 3 pm on Sundays.

Charleston City Market

The Charleston City Market is an open-air market and a city historic landmark. Find the market in the heart of downtown Charleston. Shopping includes a day and a night market. The day market operates out of the Great Hall, built in 1841 as the epicenter of city life. Today it has over 300 certified local vendors selling artistic goods, books, biscuits, and more. The night market is an open-air market that operates from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm on Fridays and Saturdays from March through December. It focuses on artists, but of course you’ll find local food vendors. Locals and travelers enjoy listening to live music as they shop at the market stalls in the evening.

West Ashley Farmers Market

The West Ashley Farmers Market is an extension of the ever-popular Charleston Farmers Market. It is the preferred market among locals who like to stock their fresh produce and local goods mid-week. The West Ashley Farmers Market takes place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays during the summer in Ackerman Park.

Holy City Farmer’s Market

Holy City Farmer’s Market is another destination for handmade goods. Running at the Holy City Brewing Company premises, visit from March through December on Sundays 11 am-3 pm. Vendors rotate in and out, and often there’s live music to accompany your shopping.

Mount Pleasant Farmer’s Market

For our neighbors across the harbor, the Mount Pleasant Farmer’s Market brings local vendors to the park outside Moultrie Middle School. Visit the market on Tuesday afternoons starting in April from 3:30 pm to 7 pm. The market runs until the fall, with a holiday market wrapping up the year. Parking is free, and the vendors sell prepared meals and farm products. Uniquely, the market also has Clemson Extension Master Gardeners on hand to help with your home garden inquiries and challenges.
